Jonathan Fouch has spent the greater part of his 11-year career helping families build their legacy through technology. Prior to founding History Creators, Jonathan was the Chief Technology Officer of Shea Law, one of the biggest estate planning law firms in the State of Michigan. There Jonathan created an online tool used by thousands of clients to complete their estate planning documents online. During his tenure at the firm, Jonathan also digitized over a million pages of paper files, developed software and websites, and managed a team of attorneys and paralegals.
In 2019, Jonathan started History Creators, a digitalization company that preserves photos and movie film for clients throughout Metro Detroit. Jonathan largely works with individuals, families, and organizations to preserve their history through digital means. His preservation work has gone on to be displayed in documentaries, museums, and even as NFTs. However, what Jonathan enjoys most is working with families. Jonathan strives to help families preserve, backup, and enjoy their analog memories.
Currently, Jonathan runs the day-to-day practice of History Creators and meets with clients out of the Southfield location. Jonathan is also working with Shea Law to develop a one-of-a-kind legal employee benefit plan called BluHarbor Legal, which will provide access to a lawyer for a small monthly fee. Jonathan is serving as Chief Technology Officer of BluHarbor Legal.
Prior to joining Shea Law in 2011, Jonathan co-founded Excellence for Detroit, a nonprofit organization that helped hundreds of high school students in Detroit prepare for college success from 2011 to 2015. Jonathan’s tenure at Excellence for Detroit included curriculum development, teaching, and fundraising. In total, the organization helped Detroit youth receive over a half-million dollars in scholarship money.
Jonathan is a lifelong historian. He wrote his first history as far back as the 5th grade, detailing the rise and fall of a secret playground club he had founded with his school friends. He graduated magna cum laude from Oakland University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and German Language and Literature. Using research he completed at the German Federal Archives in Berlin, his senior thesis examined the effect that propaganda had on German public opinion during Nazi rule.
Outside of work, Jonathan revels in his role of official storyteller for his group of longtime friends. He enjoys traveling, whether it’s to Dublin or Vienna, or to small towns throughout the Midwest. He also is an avid consumer of gadgets, especially anything made by Apple. He lives in Farmington Hills, Michigan, just outside of Detroit.
