How to Access Your Thumb Drive on a Windows Computer
If you have a Windows computer, hereβs how to access the thumb drive or external drive we provided to you.
First, insert the drive into your computer.
On most modern Windows devices (such as Windows 10 or Windows 11), a box may appear in the bottom right corner asking if you want to open the thumb drive. This is typically the easiest way to access the drive.
Alternatively, you can use the File Browser program to locate the drive. The File Browser is typically found at the bottom of your screen and is represented by a file icon. Open it, and the drive should appear on the left-hand side of the File Browser window. To access your files, simply click on the drive to open it. We typically label the drive either as "FAMILY" or with your last name, depending on the circumstances. From there, you can easily browse through your files.
We usually organize the contents first by media type and then into subfolders, though this structure may vary depending on your specific project.
